Baked Blooming Onion

Well, I am back from my long hiatus! My dietetic internship keeps me really busy, but I’m ready to start sharing delicious recipes with you again! The latest Picky Girl adventure was a blooming onion, which I think turned out pretty well if I do say so myself. I even got the blooming onion to actually look like a blooming onion and it was a lot easier than I thought  it would be.

Nutrition Facts (per serving):  4 servings, 87 calories, 4 g protein, 14 g carbohydrate, 2 g fat, 361 mg sodium

This is a healthier version of your standard fried blooming onion, but still gives you that crunchy oniony taste that you love! It is also a perfect snack to serve during your upcoming family or football watching festivities.

Going into this I had no idea how to make a blooming onion, so I went on Pinterest and found this recipe for a Baked Blooming Onion. I followed her directions exactly, I just had to bake mine for longer than she said to.

Hope that you enjoy and stay tuned for new recipes coming your way!

Yum! I may have a gang watching bowl games at my house on Thanksgiving and I can make this to keep them fed! I never had one at a restaurant knowing it was deep fat fried there.
